Child Safety Standards

Effective: 22 June 2026 · Last updated: 22 June 2026

Child Safety Standards policy requirements for Social and Dating apps. These standards are informed by the Tech Coalition's Child Safety Standards and align with the requirements Google Play sets for apps in the Social and Dating categories.

1. Our Commitment

Forj ("we", "our", or "us") is a platform built exclusively for adults (18 years and above). We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) of any kind, and we are committed to keeping Forj, and the broader internet, free from child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our published standards on child safety, how we respond to violations, how to report a concern, and who to contact about these issues. It applies to every person who uses the Forj app, our website, and any related service (collectively, the "Service").

2. Forj Is an Adults-Only Platform

Forj is restricted to individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit minors to create or hold an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. We use age-declaration requirements at sign-up, identity and profile verification checks, and ongoing automated and human review to detect and remove accounts that we believe belong to minors.

The fact that Forj does not permit minors to use the Service does not reduce our obligations under this policy. These standards apply in full regardless of whether a minor is ever present on the platform, because our concern extends to any content or conduct on Forj that endangers children, even where a child is not themselves a user.

3. What We Prohibit

Forj strictly prohibits the use of our Service to create, upload, store, solicit, advertise, request, or distribute any content or to engage in any conduct that facilitates the exploitation, abuse, or endangerment of children. This is a zero-tolerance policy with no exceptions. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including photographs, videos, illustrations, or computer-generated or AI-generated imagery depicting a minor in a sexually explicit manner.
  • Sexualization of a minor, including imagery, text, or other content that depicts, encourages, or promotes the sexual abuse of a child, or that portrays a child in a manner that could lead to their sexual exploitation.
  • Grooming, meaning befriending, contacting, or building a relationship with a minor, online or offline, with the intent of facilitating sexual contact or the exchange of sexual imagery.
  • Inappropriate interaction targeted at a child, including unwanted physical or simulated contact, such as groping or caressing.
  • Sextortion, meaning threatening or coercing a minor by using real or claimed access to that minor's intimate images.
  • Trafficking of a child, including advertising, soliciting, or facilitating the commercial sexual exploitation of a minor.
  • Any other behavior that endangers, exploits, or abuses a child, whether or not listed above.

Any account found to be engaged in this conduct will be removed immediately and permanently, and we will take the additional steps described in Section 5 below, including reporting to the appropriate authorities.

4. How to Report a Concern

We make it possible to report suspected CSAE or CSAM without ever leaving the app. You do not need to be the affected party to file a report, and reports can be made anonymously.

4.1 In-App Reporting

  • Report a profile or user: open the user's profile, select "Report," and choose the reason that applies (including a dedicated child safety / underage user option).
  • Report a message or conversation: open the chat, select "Report," and describe the concern.
  • Report content directly from the in-app Help & Support / Safety Center, available from account settings at any time.

4.2 Outside the App

Concerns can also be raised by email at safety@forj.online, or through our Safety Center, which is publicly accessible without an account.

  • Safety Center: https://www.forj.online/safety
  • Email: safety@forj.online

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then notify us so we can take action on the platform.

5. How We Respond, Including to CSAM

All reports relating to child safety are treated as the highest priority and are routed directly to our Trust & Safety team for expedited human review, separate from our general moderation queue.

  • Review: Reports are triaged and reviewed by trained staff, supplemented by automated detection tools that scan for known CSAM and other CSAE indicators.
  • Removal: Upon obtaining actual knowledge of CSAM or other content that violates this policy, we remove the content and the associated account immediately, and preserve relevant records as required by law.
  • Account action: Accounts found to violate this policy are permanently banned. We also take reasonable steps to prevent the same individual from rejoining the Service.
  • Reporting to authorities: Where required by law, we report confirmed CSAM to the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, and, for matters connected to Nigeria, to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and/or the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, in addition to any other relevant regional authority.
  • Law enforcement cooperation: We cooperate with law enforcement requests relating to CSAE and CSAM in accordance with applicable law and our published policies.

6. Compliance with Child Safety Laws

We design and operate the Service to comply with applicable child safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate, including, where applicable:

  • Nigeria's Child Rights Act 2003, Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015.
  • Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related regulations.
  • The reporting framework administered by the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) under the relevant U.S. federal CSAM reporting requirements, where applicable to our service providers.
  • The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection and online safety laws for users in the European Union and United Kingdom.

We maintain a process to receive, escalate, and report confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (report.cybertip.org) or the relevant regional authority for the jurisdiction in question, and we review this process periodically against evolving legal requirements and industry best practice.
