1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Forj Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Cookie Policy, each of which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Forj Technologies Ltd.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification and email at least 14 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

To use Forj, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age;
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under Nigerian law;
• Not be prohibited from using dating or social networking platforms under applicable law;
• Not have been previously banned from Forj for violating these Terms.

By using Forj, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements. If you create an account on behalf of another person, you represent that you are authorised to do so.

3. Your account

3.1 Account creation

To use most features of Forj, you must create an account by connecting via LinkedIn (primary), Google, or Apple. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.

3.2 Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@forjapp.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. Forj is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorised use of your account where you have failed to maintain adequate security.

3.3 One account per person

Each person may only maintain one active Forj account. Creating multiple accounts, sharing accounts, or using another person's account is a violation of these Terms and may result in all associated accounts being permanently banned.

3.4 Account deactivation and deletion

You may deactivate your account (temporarily hiding your profile) or delete your account (permanent data erasure) at any time through Settings → Account. See our Privacy Policy for data retention timelines following deletion.

4. Licence to use the Platform

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Forj grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform for your personal, non-commercial use. This licence does not include the right to:

• Sublicence, sell, resell, transfer, assign, or otherwise commercially exploit the Platform;
• Copy, scrape, crawl, or systematically retrieve content from the Platform;
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Platform;
• Use the Platform to develop a competing product or service;
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Platform;
• Use the Platform in any way that violates applicable law.

5. User conduct

You agree to comply with our Community Guidelines at all times. In addition, you agree that you will not:

• Misrepresent your identity, profession, qualifications, or any other information on your profile;
• Harass, abuse, threaten, stalk, or intimidate other users;
• Send unsolicited commercial messages or spam;
• Solicit money, financial information, or gifts from other users;
• Post or transmit content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or violates third-party rights;
• Attempt to circumvent any security, access control, or verification mechanism of the Platform;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure, servers, or networks;
• Use the Platform for any commercial purpose without our written consent.

Violation of these conduct standards may result in account suspension or permanent termination, at Forj's sole discretion.

6. User content

6.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you submit, post, or display on the Platform ("User Content"), including photos, profile information, and messages.

6.2 Licence to Forj

By submitting User Content, you grant Forj a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and process your User Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Platform. This licence terminates when you delete the relevant content or your account, subject to reasonable technical processing delays.

6.3 Content standards

You represent and warrant that your User Content: (a) is yours or you have the right to use it; (b) does not violate the privacy, intellectual property, or other rights of any third party; (c) does not contain malicious code, spam, or deceptive content; and (d) complies with our Community Guidelines.

6.4 Content removal

Forj reserves the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, without prior notice. We will endeavour to notify you of significant removals unless doing so would prejudice a safety investigation.

7. Premium subscriptions and billing

7.1 Subscription plans

Forj offers a free tier and a Premium subscription plan. Premium pricing, billing cycles, and features are described on our Pricing page. All prices are in Nigerian Naira (NGN) unless otherwise stated and include applicable taxes.

7.2 Billing and renewal

Premium subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or 6-monthly). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancellation must be done through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

7.3 Refunds

All subscription purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and refund requests are subject to their respective refund policies. Forj does not directly process refunds for in-app purchases. For Paystack-processed payments, contact support@forjapp.com within 7 days of the transaction date.

7.4 Price changes

Forj may change its subscription prices at any time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

7.5 Free tier limitations

The free tier is subject to usage limits (including daily swipe limits and Super Like limits) as described on the Pricing page. Forj reserves the right to modify free tier features at any time with reasonable notice.

8. Intellectual property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Platform — including the Forj name, logo, design, software, algorithms, and all other materials — are owned by Forj Technologies Ltd or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. The "Forj" name and logo are registered trademarks of Forj Technologies Ltd in Nigeria.

If you believe any content on the Platform infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact legal@forjapp.com with full details of the alleged infringement.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, Forj disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Forj does not guarantee: (a) that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; (b) that any defects will be corrected; (c) that the Platform will meet your requirements; or (d) the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any user profiles, compatibility scores, or match recommendations.

Forj is a matchmaking platform — not a background check service. Verified badges confirm that a user's LinkedIn profile is authentic; they do not constitute a criminal background check or guarantee of identity. Users are responsible for exercising their own judgement when interacting with matches, particularly before meeting in person.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Forj Technologies Ltd, its directors, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform, even if Forj has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Forj in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) ₦50,000 (fifty thousand Naira).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Forj Technologies Ltd and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of another person.

12. Termination

12.1 Termination by you

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through Settings → Account → Delete Account. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees.

12.2 Termination by Forj

Forj reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law. In cases of serious violations (fraud, harassment, content involving minors), termination will be immediate and permanent.

12.3 Effect of termination

Upon termination, your licence to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections 6.2, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.3, and 13 survive termination.

13. Disputes and governing law

13.1 Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13.2 Dispute resolution

We encourage you to contact us first at support@forjapp.com to resolve any disputes informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Lagos Court of Arbitration under its rules, with the seat of arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria. The language of arbitration shall be English.

13.3 Class action waiver

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class or representative action. You waive any right to bring or participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Forj.

14. General provisions

• Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Forj regarding the Platform.
• Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
• No waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
• Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Forj may assign its rights to any successor entity.
• Force majeure: Forj is not liable for any failure to perform its obligations due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, government actions, internet failures, or natural disasters.
